Organic Winery Raser-Bayer: Good for people and grapes
Family cohesion and an intimate connection with nature: These values have been the philosophy of the organic winery Raser-Bayer for generations. Today this is managed by the young sibling duo Daniela and Michael. A fresh wind that carries new ideas and clearly tells the origin of good wines.
The tranquil village of Höflein in the Carnuntum wine-growing region is home to the Raser-Bayer organic winery. A beautiful, traditional courtyard, whose atrium looks like a large garden. A few years ago a new wine cellar was added, which thanks to a good feeling for aesthetics is harmoniously integrated into the ensemble. Three generations pull together and spread the desire to be part of the family through the noticeable team spirit within the family. Although the two siblings Daniela and Michael are now in control, their mother Annemarie Raser is still considered the "big boss". Heroically she took over the business when she was only 22 when her father Matthias Bayer suddenly died. Already at that time she was passionate about viticulture, the management according to biological guidelines was a matter of course for her, as well as for her husband Hannes, who is dedicated to agriculture and forestry, as well as the sustainability project "renewable energy".
Enology and creativity
For Michael Raser it was always clear that he would start in the family business. After extensive oenological training and internships in Austria and New Zealand, he docked at home in 2011 and has since headed the wine division. His sister Daniela was first drawn to the creative industries specializing in online marketing and graphics before finally swapping her office job for the hustle and bustle in the winery in 2013. Since then she has been responsible for the marketing of the wines and runs the Heuriger together with her mother. This is where Grandma Maria Bayer comes in, whose pastries are admired by wine taverns just as much as the lovingly cared for flowers.
Protection of the environment as a special challenge
Love and empathy for nature, that connects all family members in their actions. At present, this benefits the vines on ten hectares of vineyards. Eleven different varieties are cultivated here, with Grüner Veltliner and Zweigelt as the local herds taking the largest part. Burgundy varieties also enjoy a high priority and the planting of PIWI varieties such as Muscaris or Muscat Blue follows the organic philosophy. The wines are expanded in different styles. From fresh and drinkable to slow and long matured reserve wines as well as sparkling and predicate wines, there is something for every taste. However, every wine is aware of the dedication and care with which it was made and pressed. “We consider protecting the environment as a special challenge of our time. It is very important to us to carefully and sustainably design the entire process of wine production, from the care of the vines to cellar work, ”Daniela and Michael keep saying.
