Wine growers' association Hagnau
Germany - Baden - Lake Constance
Exceptional wines mature on the vine slopes of the Hagnau winegrowers' association. The vines of Baden's oldest wine cooperative lead an enviable life: they grow and thrive directly on the sunny slopes of the protective Lake Constance with a view over the water to the Swiss Alpine foothills and the rock formations of the mountain giants.
Characteristic of the »sea wines« are their delicacy and lively nature.
The Hagnau winegrowers are still a strong community that maintain a long vine-growing tradition and set the highest standards for quality, care and sustainable management of their vineyards. The grapes are harvested by hand in autumn at 100%.
The Hagnau winegrowers have been operating environmentally friendly viticulture since 1993. Eight hectares of the vineyard are cultivated according to the guidelines of biodynamic viticulture, further areas according to the guidelines of organic viticulture.
The winegrower association Hagnau was founded on October 20, 1881 and is today the largest cooperative winegrowing company on Lake Constance with around 52 winegrower families and a 166 hectare vineyard. Dr. Heinrich Hansjakob, folk writer and pastor, initiated the cooperative as a bulwark against the arbitrariness of the wine merchants. Images and memories of the energetic man can be found all over the place.
