PIWI Winemakers

We, the organic winemaker family Rummel, play an innovative pioneering role through our pioneering work with fungus-resistant vines (PIWIs). The PIWIs have been an integral part of our organic viticulture vision since 1989. For us, they are the logical consequence of practicing organic viticulture with a future-oriented and sustainable perspective. That's why we were the first winery to grow Cabernet Blanc and Sauvignac, for example, which were still in the development phase at the time. We are currently cultivating these and other PIWIs on 3/4 of our 14 hectares of vineyards in southern Palatinate. Networked with the breeders and vine schools, we continue to research and test; the journey doesn't end here for us.

Our PIWI portfolio (16 items on the wine list) is as diverse as nature is: from white to red varieties, whether pure or developed as a cuvée, sparkling or still, fresh or full-bodied, accessible or inviting to consider. What they have in common is that they are predominantly dry and impress with their clarity and fruitiness. It doesn't matter whether they are used solo or as a dining companion.

The consistently positive feedback on the wines created, both from end consumers and from experts, confirms our vision and motivates us further.
